NAWBO San Diego hosts the BRAVO! Awards every May to celebrate the accomplishments of women entrepreneurs throughout the region. We commemorate the achievements of all our nominees at this festive evening event, which features a dynamic keynote speaker, and present the awards “Oscar-style” to delighted recipients.
Our 2011 awards featured the inspirational Gayle Tauber, founder of Kashi Company, as our keynote speaker, and we used some of our proceeds to create a scholarship fund for women business students at San Diego City College.

Trailblazer Award Mia Roseberry, Wounded Warrior Homes
Mia established the nonprofit Wounded Warrior Homes. Her daughter was dating a Marine and his friends had heard about the home-cooked meals at “Roseberry Ranch.” Eventually, more Marines came to her home on weekends and she hosted as many as 20 at once. She noticed a significant change in these service members’ attitudes when the comforts of home were provided. She made a career change from special education teacher to helping medically discharged single service members with traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder transition to successful independent living.
