The term “Mother” Earth is no mistake. We women are nurturers, creators, care-givers – even if some happen to have a business rather than children that they are nurturing. Fundamentally we care about the future of our planet for that which we are creating and giving life to, no matter what it might be. With this in mind, it’s not surprising that women are at the forefront of the “Green” revolution.
But how do we integrate our cares for the environment with how we conduct business?
One way is to connect and network with women who own green businesses. Here are a few resources in San Diego that can help you do just that.
- The San Diego Green Business Network holds monthly networking meetings: http://greenbusinesssd.org
- The San Diego Chapter of the US Green Building Council holds “GreenMeet” mixers and an annual conference: http://www.usgbc-sd.org/
- The Eco-Investment Club focused on connecting investors and entrepreneurs, also holds mixers: http://www.ecoinvestmentclub.com/
- San Diego Green Drinks is a more casual atmosphere for making connections: http://www.biothinking.com/greendrinks/index.php?country=USA&city=San%20Diego
- San Diego Loves Green is an excellent new resource to San Diego that provides a business directory categorized by services: http://sandiegolovesgreen.com/portal/
There is not currently an avenue for finding only women-owned green businesses. However, strategic networking and learning about the green community in San Diego should lead to connections with like-minded women who own green businesses. Be sure to invite them to visit NAWBO if they’re not already a member!
